A national memorial dedicated to victims of gun violence opened April 9, 2021 at the National Building Museum in Washington D.C.
Background
Every week, 700 Americans are shot and killed, and hundreds more are injured. To call attention to the magnitude of this epidemic, and honor the individual lives taken by gun violence, Everytown for Gun Safety has partnered with the MASS Design Group on The Gun Violence Memorial Project, a space of remembrance and healing for individuals impacted by gun violence. The Gun Violence Memorial Project, which launched in 2019 at the Chicago Architecture Biennial, opened April 9, 2021 at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. In commemorating the humanity of each victim, we can spark a national healing process and advocate for a future without gun violence.
